DGDA CEO and staff mark 90th National Day of Saudi Arabia

Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) CEO Jerry Inzerillo and staff conveyed their greetings and congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz as well as the royal family on the occasion of marking the 90th anniversary of National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The celebration of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of the 90th National Day this year coincides with its presidency of the G20 summit that includes the most important and powerful economic countries in the world, Inzerillo said.

This affirms the Kingdom's influential and leading role globally as it has economic potentials, natural resources, human capabilities and ancient historical and cultural legacies that formed bases, principles and values of the Kingdom, and contributed to disseminating humanitarian values regionally and globally, he added.

It is a legacy steeped in originality and heritage, and is as important as the Kingdom's economic position that helped it get a leading status on the cultural and heritage levels globally, in parallel with its economic influence and international position, he noted.

Inzerillo said the schemes of developing the historical Diriyha Gate are at the heart of this ancient and cultural legacy, and its promising future that we are confident that it will represent a quantum leap in the Kingdom's position and location on the regional and international heritage and cultural map, in light of the unlimited support provided by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, his Crown Prince, and efficiencies and potentials of the Kingdom's people in implementing and operating these projects.

Such projects are carried out through accumulated experiences, distinctive young talents, and aspirations and ambitions embracing the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

In this context, the DGDA marked the 90th anniversary of the National Day through organizing a varied and innovative number of cultural, artistic, awareness-raising and historical activities that had a wide interaction with, and a great response from, Diriyah's residents.

The activities also were covered by local, regional and international media, channels, and newspapers. The Salwa Palace, which is located in Al-Turaif district and registered joined the UNESCO World Heritage List, was decorated with the Kingdom's flag and the National Day slogan, amid interactions by the audience with national and popular songs during the celebrations.

The National Day movie, which was produced by the DGDA and fully filmed in Al-Turaif district in Diriyah, had also interactions by the audience and was widely circulated on social media.

The movie was about a side of the history of Diriyah, and great features and qualities that formed the will, determination and awareness of the Saudi nation.

This contributed to achieving Saudi Arabia's accomplishments and victories over several years, mainly these features have become an integral part of the components of the Saudi personality and its original principles that started from the "Jewel of the Kingdom", the capital of the first Saudi State and the home of the ruling family, in light of its special heritage and environmental site to be a civilizational and cultural center inside and outside Saudi Arabia.

The movie, that included a lot of historical information, impressive artistic performance and expressive soundtrack, inspired some symbolic elements that belong to local nature and environment in the region, and formed Saudi Arabia's personality.

Saudi people acquired several characteristics from environment and nature; they learned generosity from palm trees, endurance from the desert, physiognomy from hawks, strength from wolves, persistence from the steadfastness of the mud brick, witness from leopard, determination from sword and patience from camels.

Of the distinguished activities organized by the DGDA and highly interacted by the public in several streets and neighborhoods of Diriyah was an entertainment and cultural event entitled 'the 7th districts of Diriyah'.

Seven teams of knights decorated with the Saudi Najdi uniform and the logo of Diriyah visited seven neighborhoods in the region, interacted with its residents and provided them with information on the National Day, Diriyah, the Kingdom's history and others. Each team distributed gifts to the people of the neighborhood.

Three teams paid a visit to the comprehensive rehabilitation center for females in Diriyah, Diriyah Hospital and others. They also distributed gifts to staff of these bodies amid a joyful atmosphere.

Of the innovative activities arranged by the DGDA to ensure abiding by the precautionary measures to combat coronavirus is organizing an equipped carriage roaming in the streets of Diriyah to provide various activities for all groups of people.

The carriage visited different sites and stopped at three main places to receive the public.

A number of events were organized at these stops. The first event was "the heritage carriage". It was a Saudi show with which the spectators highly interacted. The second one focused on the "Arab art" that portrayed a number of prominent Saudi figures in all fields.

It also included a wonderful musical performance, with a great participation of different segments of the onlookers.

The third stop was about "the Arab horsemen" that included some dance performances followed by other teams making bicycle shows.

It is noteworthy that the DGDA launched, several months ago, a number of economic, heritage and cultural schemes aimed at highlighting Diriyah's historical potentials and benefiting from the important heritage sites, fabulous natural environment and distinctive Najd architectural designs.

This helps the region carry out these major projects so as to allure more than 25 million tourists and visitors inside and outside the Kingdom to enjoy an exceptional lifestyle as Diriyah represents the cultural heart of the Kingdom, a tourist destination with a new and developed lifestyle and one of the greatest gathering places in the world.
