DGDA would like to clarify that certain information being shared on social media platforms pertaining to the land acquisition initiative for land falling within the Diriyah project perimeter is incorrect and misrepresentative of the current status of the initiative. DGDA is following the government approved and endorsed plan in this regard and is working to ensure the best possible outcome for all residents affected by any of the Diriyah masterplans. Furthermore, DGDA is working to ensure that residents’ rights are maintained and that they are kept aware of the latest updates through direct communications. The DGDA team would like to emphasize the importance of ensuring that information regarding this matter is received from authorized and official sources to avoid confusion.




Diriyah Gate Development Authority has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Heritage Preservation Society

The DGDA has signed an MOU with the SHPS to implement many joint heritage projects and initiatives in the area. The aim is to protect the archeological sites and conduct research, sharing experiences and encouraging the role of the local communities in these projects. The MoU documents the intangible heritage and developing heritage preservation plans for Diriyah.
 
Commending the efforts of the SHPS in preserving heritage, the CEO of the DGDA, Jerry Inzerillo, believes this MoU will contribute to the achievement of the objectives of both parties, especially with regard to preserving the archeological sites, as well sharing new experiences, scientific research, technical studies for the cultural and heritage preservation.
 
Jerry Inzerillo believes that strengthening the cooperation with the SHPS includes delivering exhibitions, activities, event , effective awareness initiatives, conferences and more. There should also be the celebration of cultural & international days in the area. All activities will be focused on a protection and promotion of the area’s heritage.
 
For his part, Mr. Abdul Rahman bin Adbullah Al-Edain, the Director- General of the SHPS noted that the heritage projects implemented by the DGDA in the “Jewel of the Kingdom” represent a paradigm shift in preserving the heritage, not only inside the Kingdom but also all over the world. The Diriyah projects are one of the most prominent cultural & heritage projects in the world. He added that through this MoU, the SHPS seeks to achieve the best standards and solutions to preserve the various heritage sites in the kingdom and especially in the Diriyah.
 
Al-Edain further explains that the MoU includes training projects and developmental initiatives to support the revival of the Diriyah’s intangible heritage. There will also be mutual cooperation in conducting studies, which aim to uncover the best cultural projects  in line with the DGDA’s objectives for preserving the heritage of Diriyah.

It is noteworthy that the DGDA are working on several developmental projects to rehabilitate and preserve the archeological sites in the “Jewel of the Kingdom.” The SHPS is a powerful actor in preserving the Saudi heritage and increasing the awareness of its importance and national values. The SHPS also works on registering the heritage and cultural sites and providing the necessary research in this regard to spreading the awareness and building up expertise in Saudi cultures and heritage.
