DGDA signs MoU with a Charitable Society

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Charitable Society of Autism Families. The Charitable Society of Autism Families is the first development association in the Kingdom promoting comprehensive support for those with a family member who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The association with charity ensures these individuals receive high quality services, helping them integrate into society.

DGDA confirmed that the development and provision of services to the Diriyah community is the main goal of its various economic and development projects. It aims to create a distinctive and sustainable urban environment that serves the Diriyah community, meets their aspirations, enhances the historical and national importance of this site. It also highlights the unique character, the distinctive cultural roots, and the exceptional urban heritage of the jewel of the kingdom and its authentic Najdi style. These projects will benefit the society of Diriyah Governorate and provide support those people who most need help.

The authority also explored the most important goals of the MoU, which was signed under the high patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Saud, the Governor of Diriyah. The provision of support for people with low-income such as orphans, poor families, widows and divorced women is crucial, helping these groups to get benefits from the projects run by the authority. Additionally, it is to develop and implement charitable initiatives, such as The Wae’i program, which aims to raise community awareness in several fields such as health, environment, and cultural areas, as well as to promote positive behaviors.

Among the programs in this cooperation with Imam Mohamed bin Saud Charitable Society are:

  • The Food Support program, which offers financial guarantees, providing food for families in the area, and for other deserving categories. It also includes the Ramadan food baskets project, helping to support these groups during the blessed month of Ramadan.
  • The Our Orphans project is an educational and recreational project for the orphans registered in the area.
  • The development of the Recycling Center project, which aims to develop the current center so it can receive furniture and clothes and transfer them to someone who needs them. It also aims to recycle various materials as a social investment project.
  • The Programs & Events project, which includes educational projects and events in various fields, including the Weekly Events program, offering different entertainment within culture and education.
  • The marathon aims to raise awareness about sport and its impact on the health of the individual and society, encouraging sports competitions for three different age stages: children, youth and old people.
  • The Talent Scout project aims to discover individuals who can then help their families, their society, and their country in the future.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Sunday September 13, 2020 AD corresponding to (Muharram 25, 1442 AH) in Riyadh by Eng. Abdullah Al-Ghanim, the Executive Director of shared Services at the Diriyah Gate Development Authority. It was also signed by Mr. Abdullah bin Mohamed Al-Owain, the Executive Director of the Imam Mohamed bin Saud Charitable Society. The MoU includes an exchange of information, data and statistics, and methods for cooperation in several community projects such as the Future Leaders project and the Labor Market Preparation project. The aim is to meet the needs of the labor market, especially in development, tourism and entertainment implemented in Diriyah. It is about empowering individuals so that they live sustainably and are not dependent on society.

These projects have been integrated with the Co-Workspace project, an investment project aims to provide a co-working space for the social initiatives and Societies, and incubation programs.

DGDA believes these projects and initiatives for the development of the local community and its residents represents how human development is more important than the development of place. This is the key to its approach to sustainable development approach, which is pursued by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and his Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed bin Salman. The DGDA is working to implement these shared systems in full, as a part of the Kingdom's vision 2030.

Such community initiatives and their programs are in line with the social, cultural and historical identities aimed at improving the life standards of the area. Diriyah Gate Development Authority supervises the development of Diriyah district and its economic and social development, in cooperation with the other relevant parties, such as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. King Salman, in the presence of His Highness Crown Prince, inaugurated Diriyah last year as a global tourism destination, hosting worldwide activities and exchanging historical, cultural, and artistic knowledge.
